Hello! It’s me.
Sometimes the veggie bone is on the menu (Sunday and Wednesday). These days, my diet offers me microwaved peas. As long as they’re warm, I’ll eat ’em. I don’t have to like ’em, but I’ll eat ’em.
Dad had hernia surgery this morning. He had separated tissues sewn together coupled with a fancy new mesh. Everything turned out just fine. However, the surgeon rejected my kind offering of surgical assistance via an ample supply of tools.
Apparently you can’t fix a hernia with a crescent wrench. Who knew?
The featured event of the day was meteorological in nature (see the word play evident there … see what I did … see it … see it?). The remnants of Hurricane Rosa blew through The Valley today. We had more than 2.5 inches of rain at our house (Dad measured the depth of the pool vs. the normal depth as defined by a calcium ring around the pool … not scientific, but not bad for a surgery-addled mind), nearly enough to fill our pool (visit the website to watch the video).
Somebody should have brought the ottomans in, Dad.
My friend Amy sent me this picture, taken as the remnants of the hurricane moved off toward Kansas. I’ve been told that somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly.
All I know is that bluebirds aren’t forced to eat microwave-heated peas, #amirite?
Poor Dad…but now he is the bionic man! amirite?! Wishing Dad a very speedy recovery, wishing you a bowl steamed fresh peas and sending hugs to Mom. OhMy! What an amazing rainbow you shared…truly…there really is something about the Arizona light! ❤️
Well at least your mom didn’t have to water the garden today, and might not have to tomorrow either. Meanwhile microwave-warmed peas aren’t on my list of delicacies, unless maybe when they are slathered in butter. Come to think of it, veggie bones don’t float my boat either, and neither does surgery of any kind, or moving ottomans because of a deluge after having had surgery. All-in-all, not a topnotch day in Goodyear land. Hope tomorrow and the thereafter are better, MUCH better, for the whole family.
Peas, glorious peas! Shucks, (see what we did there) we’ll eat ’em raw, cooked, frozen, howsever. The tiny early June ones are our favorites though. Have Dad pick you some up . Fresh in the pods might be of some interest to you too. Yummy!
Glad all went well during Dad’s surgery. Does that make “The K-Man” now the “Mesh Man”?
Hmmm, do we foresee another Super Hero comic book in the offing? Perhaps his lair would be “Somewhere BEHIND The Rainbow”.
Anyway, bet y’all are glad for the rain soaked cool down 🙂
Healing thoughts for Dad! Wow! Why do you have to eat peas? Are you on a diet again? When we were in England, they served “mushy peas” with weird stuff–like french fries and lasagna. There was even a truck that we saw that said “MUSHY PEA COMPANY” on the side of it. Hang in there Dash. Auntie Janet
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Kevin. And hope this rain doesn’t lead to any flash flooding! But maybe lots of wildflowers this Spring?
I’m glad that surgery is behind you now Kev. Take good care of yourself!
